So I guess for those of you who would be new to my blog you won't know my musical tastes... let me tell you they range from A capella to techno... with no small amount of blues, jazz, folk, rock, metal, soul, R&B, Funk, Disco, Country, Indie, Punk and Unclassifiable thrown in for good measure... a list of some of my top current favorites with links to some of my favorite tracks...
Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings ~ a soul funk sister backed by a band of groovy white bois who can seriously blow a trumpet. Sharon is a force to be reckoned with.. the inspiration behind the sound to Amy Winehouse's new album was Sharon Jones. She is constantly called the "female James Brown" and damn does she deliver both in studio and live!!!

Katrina Elam~ an amazing Country singer with scorched earth vocals... she's the one they based Carrie Underwood's image and sound on... going so far as to even take songs originally planned for her Sophomore album and putting them on Carrie's... who ruined them but that's just this bloggers opinion.

Ashley Monroe~ ever wonder what Dolly Parton would sound like had she been born in 80s? Well look no further than Ashley Monroe, with deep emotional lyrics, and amazing lyrical hooks she's one heck of a song writer and her PIPES... just wow... she simply amazing as both a singer and a songwriter

Eric Himan~ an out gay folk singer who really knows how to grip your heart with his voice, I just bought about 5 of his albums and let me tell you this boy is NOT dissapointing me!! Give him a spin ... you won't regret it.

Alice Smith~ I bought her debut album back in 2006 and fell in love with it with a 4 octave range this girl can power house her way through any song... and isn't ashamed to switch up genres on an album going from R&B to Blues and Country while jamming it up for a down home Soul ballad she does it all... her live performances are not up to par for me right now.. she used to be amazing but lately she's slurring her words.. still... can't wait for the next release!

Alana Grace~ a phenom of the pop rock world.. she's everything they expected Avril Lavigne to be but with TALENT!! Writing her own songs and performing the hell out of them I say watch out for this girl to blow up the charts!

Sara Bareilles~ a lady who is making her way in this world one step at a time.. also a singer/songwriter she has an incredible jazzy/pop sound which caught the eye of Apple who has used her songs in commercials and her image in magazines... her latest album (and "debut" if you don't count her Demo Cd which I do own) "Little Voice" is incredible!!!
