This was a song recorded for and left off of "Satisfied" along with tracks like Carry On, Thinkin' It Over, California and Come To Me. I know it was recorded at Shiloh Music Group studios and was on their myspace page several years ago but taken down before I learned how to rip the source files from there. It was written by Terry Clayton, Jeffrey Todd Jones and Ashley Monroe. You'll find some pics from this recording session if you go to their myspace page.

Spotify currently has it listed on their app as a "bonus track" for it's version of the Satisfied album. I originally did a stream rip of the file which was still in a great quality according to the app I used, but now Amazon has put the track for sale on their website. That's the version you'll find below. It's a stunning traditional country tune so I hope it makes you all very happy!

Pistol Annies team up with The Chieftains

For 50 years, Ireland's Chieftains have popularized their country's traditional music, often by collaborating with artists from other genres. On the new Voice of Ages album, out Feb. 21, the band teams with acts from the Americana and indie-rock worlds.

Country trio Pistol Annies — consisting of Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley — joins The Chieftains for a lovely version of the Appalachian ballad Come All Ye Fair and Tender Ladies, featuring the group's three-part harmonies.

"Pistol Annies took the old Irish melody of Come All Ye Fair and Tender Ladies and, with the help of The Chieftains, brought it to life in their own unique way," says Chieftains founder Paddy Moloney, who produced the new album with T Bone Burnett.

Other guests on Voice of Ages include Bon Iver, the Civil Wars, The Decemberists, the Low Anthem and Imelda May.

After ten years of working together as one of the finest, most creative bands on the contemporary string band scene, Crooked Still recently announced their impending hiatus.

But, before they go their separate ways to work on some exciting new projects, they've got a fall tour full of dates and a seven-song EP titled Friends of Fall, which hits stores Oct. 11. The EP is full of great new original tunes as well as a couple of cover songs - including a stirring rendition of Paul Simon's "American Tune," among others

Friends of Fall, the new 7-song EP from Crooked Still, offers a fresh and vibrant look at Boston’s most innovative folk group on the eve of their tenth anniversary. While Crooked Still is well known for its one-of-a-kind interpretations of traditional American folk songs, Friends of Fall showcases the band’s compelling approach to contemporary and original music. This unique song collection coincides with the band’s 10-year anniversary tour in October, and features covers of the Beatles, Paul Simon, and John Hartford as well as original pieces and a musical adaptation of a Wendell Berry poem.

Crooked Still recorded Friends of Fall in the midst of a busy summer tour, convening for three days in a beautiful former church house, now the site of Rotary Records studios in West Springfield, MA. For this special project, each band member personally arranged and directed the entire ensemble for a single song. Recorded and mixed by two of the finest engineers from Nashville, TN (David Sinko, Erick Jaskowiak) these gorgeous recordings capture Crooked Still’s signature live energy and dynamic musicianship, as well as standout performances by lead singer Aoife O’Donovan.

Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Beth Hart, known for her raw and powerful blues-rock sound, wraps her expressive vocals around classic soul covers on Don’t Explain, an album that grew out of her friendship with the acclaimed Blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa. Produced by Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Black Country Communion), Don’t Explain is an intimate collection of hand-picked soul cover versions, as performed by celebrated artists, such as Gil Scott-Heron, Tom Waits, Etta James and Aretha Franklin. Don’t Explain perfectly combines Beth Hart’s raspy soulful vocal with Bonamassa’s unique guitar sound, Kevin Shirley, who has produced Bonamassa’s last five albums, reflects on what it was like working with Beth for the first time – “Beth’s got a pretty heady voice, very reminiscent of Janis Joplin, she’s also got a lot of Etta James in her, but hadn’t really accessed it. VV Brown Returning With New Single “Children” Next Week, New Album In 2012

V V Brown“Shark In The Water” songstress VV Brown will offer up her new Chuck Harmony-produced single “Children” on September 20. It’s the first release off the 27-year-old UK artist’s sophomore LP (title not yet revealed), which she began work on while touring with Maroon 5 last year.

“Children” features Chiddy of Philadelphia duo Chiddy Bang. “The song was written about a generation that has uninspiring aspirations and believes material wealth is what happiness is,” VV says in a press release.

She also notes that the song feels particularly topical following the August riots in London. “You have to give people a voice. “Everyone has to be heard, because otherwise they will make themselves heard.”

Other collaborators Brown worked with on her follow up to her debut, which is due out in early 2012, include Evan Bogart (co-writer of Beyonce’s “Halo”), Jean Baptiste (producer of Black Eyed Peas’ “Meet Me Halfway” and “Rock That Body”), Mr. Griffiths (Jem’s Down To Earth album) and Bjorn Yttling of Peter Bjorn And John.

Given the writers and producers involved, it seems guaranteed that Brown’s upcoming LP will have a much different vibe than that retro pop Traveling Like The Light gave off.

“I set up a studio in my flat, with just me and my engineer, and started going a bit mad with music,” she says of her new material. “It was all part of the process of getting to where I am now. I had to re-program and learn who I was again.”

Two years ago, Angaleena Presley sat on the couch in her Nashville home looking at the walls and wondering which baby pictures to save before she set her house on fire.

Presley was a struggling singer/songwriter who had just separated from her husband, also a musician. The bank was about to foreclose. And Presley, scrambling for a way to give her 2-year-old son Jed a better life, wanted insurance money to start over.

“I thought about it for a while and then it was like, ‘OK, you’re not crazy. You’re not going to burn your house down,’” says Presley, now 34. “Then I went to pick up my guitar.”

That story unfolds in “Housewife’s Prayer,” a cut on Pistol Annies’ traditional, gutsy debut album Hell on Heels, which was released digitally Aug. 23. Pistol Annies, a trio consisting of country superstar Miranda Lambert, singer/songwriter Ashley Monroe, and Presley, sold more than 44,000 of those digital albums and debuted in the top spot on Billboard’s Country Albums chart. Because of the strong sales numbers, the album will soon be available in retail stores — something that was never part of the plan.

The trio will happily take the success, but money was never the driving force behind the Annies. Lambert, 27, and Monroe, 24, are longtime friends and co-writers who had amassed a bundle of songs that were too old-school for either of their country careers. The women weren’t sure what to do with the material, but Monroe says they broached the idea of doing a project that was a mix of their styles to accommodate the new work. Then one night, she says she and Lambert were up late writing songs on Lambert’s couch at her Oklahoma home and “Ang just popped in my head.”

“I was like, ‘Miranda, do you know Angaleena Presley?’” Monroe says. “And she was like, ‘No.’ I was like, ‘Mute the TV.’”

Monroe found Lambert’s laptop and pulled up Presley’s MySpace page to play Lambert some of Presley’s songs.

“I got her to focus for a second, and Ran was like, ‘Oh my God, what is this?’ ” Monroe recalls. “Ran was like, ‘This is the missing piece. This is our band.’ And I was like, ‘I know.’”

Since the friends could only hear snippets of Presley’s songs on the web, Monroe called Presley in the middle of the night to ask her to email them more music.

“I was like, ‘Who is this?’” Presley laughs. “Ashley? And Miranda who?”

Monroe explained it was Miranda as in Lambert, and Presley says, “I was like, ‘Oh, God. OK. OK. I’m up.’”

She started emailing her songs to Monroe and Lambert, and Monroe says they were glued to her inbox like 5-year-olds to the tree on Christmas morning.

“It was like here’s another one!” Monroe recalls.

“(I) just loved it … fell in love with it,” Lambert says of Presley’s music. “And so we asked Ang, ‘You want to be in a girl band?’ I mean, literally, it just went from the couch to this.”
Music to empower women

The trio got together for the first time at the CMA Awards that year. They met on Lambert’s bus and Monroe says they started “hanging out and writing instantly.”

“There was really no option,” she says.

The women started spending more and more time together after that. Monroe and Presley, who both live in Nashville, would join Lambert for brief songwriting stints while she was on tour. It was on one of these trips that Presley shared the first line of “Housewife’s Prayer”: “I’ve been thinking about setting my house on fire.”

Many of the 10 songs on Hell on Heels are in a similar vein, no-holds-barred female hardship touching on issues ranging from debt and unplanned pregnancy to unhappy marriage. But there’s also plenty of confidence, humor and optimism as exhibited in the title track “Hell on Heels,” a harmony-rich up-tempo about a trio of women making a deal with the devil so they could take advantage of “a million” men.

“We wanted to make music about the things people talk about but no one wants to admit,” Lambert says. “We make music to empower women.”

Presley says she thinks anyone can relate to the songs on the album, or at least that’s her hope.

“I try to paint a picture and hopefully transport people somewhere,” she says. “When I was going through my divorce, Lori McKenna had a song on her record and I would just play it over and over and over and over. It’s like it was medicine to me. Music has always been like my teddy bear in life, so I hope that I can make music people can cuddle with and lean on.” Some of the songs are from personal experience. Some of them are funny. Some of them will make you cry. Some of them will make you think. I hope people like it.”
Relationships blossom

Lambert, Presley or Monroe (or some combination of the three) wrote every song on the album with the exception of the last track, “Family Feud,” which includes Lambert’s husband and fellow country star Blake Shelton.

“He said he felt like we had a gang and he wasn’t in it,” Lambert says. “We were all out at the house in Oklahoma and we were writing ‘Family Feud’ and couldn’t figure out the last line. Blake was in the kitchen doing dishes playing the good host, you know, and we were talking through it and he said from the kitchen ‘Cause the good Lord giveth and the family taketh away.’ And that was it, and he got in there. But, we wanted him in there.”

The women officially debuted their group this spring during the Academy of Country Music’s Girls Night Out concert event in Las Vegas the day after the ACM Awards. That’s when Monroe said she realized their trio was more than friends just hanging out singing together.

“My brain knew it, but my heart knew it when we stepped out on stage and we’re looking down at Reba and Martina and Carrie and The Judds for gosh sakes, and they were smiling clapping along to ‘Hell on Heels,’” Monroe says. “It was like, ‘Wait a minute.’ We hadn’t even played with a band before. We were just sitting around with guitars writing until that day of the rehearsal when we practiced with a band for the first time.”

And that was just the beginning.As the music continued to take shape and their friendships blossomed, Monroe and Presley started joining Lambert on stage some nights for a Pistol Annies portion of her tour. Sometimes Presley’s son, Jed, now 4, is even along for the trip. The girls call him their mascot and stand him on a table before every show and let him sing Roger Miller songs.

“He can do ‘Chug-A-Lug’ and ‘Dang Me’ and ‘Do Wacka Do,’ so every night before we go on … he does his little performances and he nails it every time,” Presley says. “Finally, I was like, ‘Miranda, I’m going to start charging for these performances, it will be $10 from here on out.’ And she said, ‘It will be well worth it.’”

These days Presley’s life looks a lot different than it did the day she was contemplating arson and trying to figure out how to outsmart the insurance company out of some money. She left that house for an apartment, and she doesn’t even know what happened to the house now. After she met Lambert and started going on tour with her, she fell in love with Lambert’s tour manager, Jordan Powell. The two are now engaged and recently bought what Presley calls “her dream home.”

“My life has changed so much so fast,” she says. “Everything that I was praying for and hoping for when I was sitting on the couch that day is coming to fruition. It’s like I don’t want to blink, because I’m afraid it will all go away. It’s so crazy when dreams come true. You don’t want to believe it.”

And the band is full steam ahead.Lambert is adamant that even though her career is at its peak, Pistol Annies is anything but a side project. She says it’s another equally important creative outlet that she hopes will introduce country fans to her friends. She also says having Jed on the road has taught her a thing or two, as well.

“He climbs in his little bunk and we put the bed rails up and he just watches his movies and goes to sleep,” she says. “It’s just showed me that you can have a family and be on the road.”

Monroe jokes that having Pistol Annies as a creative outlet is so huge it’s kept her out of a padded room.

“I want to do more than just write songs, and this has given me the opportunity to do it,” she says. “We draw from each other, and it’s like therapy being out there on the road together. We all truly care for each other, so it’s more than just sharing music, it’s sharing our life, and all three of us sharing a dream. It’s a double whammy.”

This Perth, Australian musician has a cool slash and burn, take no prisoners, verging on Metal, musical language. I usually have a short attention span in said territory, but there are enough quieter spots to not leave the listener prematurely spent. There are not many female led bands or solo acts blazing these trails; but here is hoping Ms. May continues finding her rock in a hard place and shares these choice agates with us!

Pistol Annies make all the right moves on their debut album, available as of August 23. The 10 songs on ‘Hell on Heels’ were sown somewhere in Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe or Angaleena Presley’s previous lives. While collaborating, they pull out and often expand upon the merciless details. It’s brutally honest, raw and intimidating from start to finish. The title track is quickly proven to be not just a gimmick, and while ‘Lemon Drop’ is more optimistic and good-hearted than the opener, songs like ‘Beige,’ ‘Bad Example,’ and ‘Housewife’s Prayer’ are increasingly dark. Each one cuts like a surgeon’s scalpel, with the latter opening with the album’s most memorable verse. “I’ve been thinking about setting my house on fire / Can’t see a way out of the mess I’m in and the bills keep getting higher / All I need is a match and a gallon of gas / God I’m getting tired / Gonna set this house on fire.” ‘Lemon Drop’ shouldn’t be overlooked amongst the attitude of these other four songs on the first half of the album. The chorus of this song is a perfect example of what these women do so well. Their songs tell complete stories in very few words. Mood, music and pronunciation fill many of the gaps, while the listener can’t resist coloring in the rest. “My life is like a lemon drop / I’m sucking on the bitter to get to the sweet part / I know there are better days ahead.”...

This is for the Melody Gardot lovers and collector's out there. Back in 2005 Melody began recording "Worrisome Heart" and in 2006 was releasing it independently on awarestore.com and at her live shows. Below is the version that was released independently. The front artwork and track listing are different. You'll also note that there are 2 additional songs, left off of the Verve label release (Wicked Ride and My World a hidden bonus track). Rather than post the hidden track as is on the CD (connected to Twilight after several minutes of silence) I have split the two tracks. The hidden track has yet to surface online anywhere and it took me a while to track down the CD as I had loaned it out before she hit the "big time" and finding the 2006 indie release again was a bit tricky. VV Brown Vanessa Brown Back To The Music Promo

At 18, Brown was invited to an open audition for VH1 divas by friends and was stopped outside the venue by an executive from London Records. Brown was offered a development deal by London records. The development soon came to an end and, at 19, Brown was offered a deal by Polydor records in the UK and A&M records in the US. Her debut single was "Whipped".

She relocated to Los Angeles to work on her debut album Back To The Music. In preparation she performed at LA's Mint Club. A five track promo CD was released to executives but the album was then shelved.

'Back To The Music' which was set to be released in the UK in 2006 was executive produced by Ron Fair - the man who discovered Christina Aguilera and turned Black Eyed Peas into multi-million sellers by A&Ring their Elephunk album. Vanessa wrote almost every track on the album. Some were written in Northampton when she was still a pre-teen.

In preparation Vanessa performed to a packed crowd in LA's Mint Club where she showcased songs from 'Back To The Music' to the US music industry in mid 2005. A five track promo CD was released to executives but the album was then shelved and has not been released to date. The tracks on the unreleased Promotional album were "Whipped", "Nobody Loves Me", "Dangerous Love", "Back To The Music", and "Calling Out Your Name". Two other known tracks from these recording sessions are "Eternal Life" which is a b-side for the 2 track Whipped Single released in 2005 and "Whatever It Takes" (which along with Whipped and Back To The Music were arranged with David Campbell). The hook for standout track 'Nobody Loves Me' was written when Vanessa was just 11 - it was recorded in West Hollywood a decade later.

So Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley have been two of my favorite country singer songwriters for a few years now. At the ACM Girls Night Out event they made their debut with Miranda Lambert in a trio called Pistol Annies. Below is there first single Hell On Heels.

Kicking off with a spare, almost sinister acoustic guitar before slowly layering in a light percussion line and a light bluesy electric guitar riff in the background, the Pistol Annies' first single, "Hell on Heels," is highly impressive. It rocks my socks and has me dying for a full albums worth of material.

Melody Gardot pays Tribute to Tim Burton

Multi-platinum, award winning singer/songwriter Melody Gardot performed at the Opening Ceremony of the 63rd Cannes Film Festival on May 12th at the Palais des Festivals. Her spectacular performance included a medley of songs from the blockbuster films Alice In Wonderland, A Nightmare Before Christmas and Beetlejuice in honour of their director Tim Burton. The Academy Award nominee is this year's President of the Jury at the Festival.

Melody said of the experience, "Being invited to perform at the festival, especially for Tim Burton, is a huge thrill for me as I have been a major fan of Burton's films for years! I grew up watching his films and find his mind to be incredibly creative. His use of light, color and the ability to dream while awake mirrors the way I feel about music."

I've had the urge to blog again recently. I'm not sure how I want it to go. Sure I want people to read it and thus spark a conversation in regards to music... but I'm just not sure how I want to go about it. Do I want to use my usual sarcastic and dark sense of humor? Or do I want to keep it light and just list the basics like I have been. Such choices... such choices...

I sit here in my kitchen, watching my dachshund chase birds his short little legs carrying him much faster than one can believe. The cloud of black and grey winged interlopers explode into the sky in a flurry of movement. Only to settle down quickly once he passes by. They know he's all bark and no bite. The new Adele plays in the background. A great backing soundtrack for a relaxing afternoon. Full of heartache, a touch of anger and a lot pulling yourself up by the bootstraps and getting things done. I hated her first. Anyone who's asked me knew that right off the back. It was a bad album. Every song sounded exactly the same to me. This one though... genius and amazing production too. Slick but still "raw" that's hard to do.

So while I ponder things about this blog... I leave you to check her out.

Currently in love with Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. Their early stuff is AMAZING. The new album is great and I can see it launching them to the top if marketed correctly.

Bettye LaVette's new album Interpretations: The British Rock Songbook is stellar, not a single song on the album I'd skip.

Re-awoke my MIKA love due to his new song "Kickass (We Are Young)" from the Kickass soundtrack, cute music video to go with it as well!! It made me bust out The Boy Who Knew Too Much as when it first came out I liked it but was in a blues mood and so now I'm playing the heck out of it.

Craving some new Ashley Monroe, it's been a while since she's done a song update but my recording of her Opry show is getting me through temporarily.

That's about all I got in me for an update at this time. I'll start trying to update more now that I have more free time on my hands.

With grey rainy days comes the blues. Today could easily be a day to allow yourself to wallow in self doubt and pity. Instead I feel the breathe of spring rejuvenating me. With this comes a change in the melancholy music that has wrapped my spirit in it's comforting embrace. The weather is allowing Soul music to take over. Music that cuts deep, makes you stand up and belt it out with the singer. Sounds that make you feel empowered.

My little world has had it's ups and downs lately but last night there was a spark that what was will be again. That brings me more joy than I could have ever imagined. Here's hoping all of you are in high spirits today as well!!

The tree is up, my blues and rock are swelling from the little speakers attached to my ipod. I just spent the afternoon putting on my own mini concert on my second floor. Ahhh... life. It's been pretty hectic lately, between losing my job, looking for a new one and getting ready (as in decorating ect ect) for my favorite holiday of all HALLOWEEN. Life is finally settling into a pace that I feel like blogging again I've come across a lot of promo, demo and Advanced copy works by artists I love and have been debating on what to share and what to keep to myself. I've decided that first up is the "Sampler EP" that I've gathered for Renee Olstead's 8 time delayed sophmore album "Skylark" I've managed to collect 5 tracks that are to be on the album. This little ladies sense of Timing is impeccable, and when you consider she's still only 19 its even more remarkable. I have her album from when she was 13-14 and she had the chops even back then, and her Self Titled Debut album at 15 also shows her vocal prowess. Enjoy!

Tonight I leave to go see my friends. We try to get together once a month and usually we achieve our goal, its very rare that we miss a month, but this month is special... why you ask? There will be no significant others, no children and no cell phone signals to distract us from having a good ole time and letting our hair down up at the River House. It's been a looong time since we've been just our original core group (known affectionately as "Misfits") with no distractions of any kind. So this weekend is a time for kayaking, canoeing, wake tubing, riding on a boat or jet ski, enjoying a soothing dip in a clean pool, lounging in a hammock eating fruit, watching a dog run wild on fresh cut grass and sitting around a fire with your friends gossiping and making s'mores. Its a time for beautiful acoustic music and sing-a-longs. So get your friends together put on some good acoustic tunes and enjoy the weekend everyone.

Blue or Grey?

I've been listening to the blues a lot lately. I can't seem to shake this melancholy feeling inside of me, maybe being apart from the one's I love is the reason for this I'm not sure. Just thought I'd mention that. I also came to a realization today that there are not nearly as many Ravens in my neighborhood as there were when I moved in last summer. This brings up a deep well of loss within myself, you see ravens/crows are one of my inner totem animals, along with otters. Knowing that they were in the area when we moved made me feel like this place was a perfect fit, and so the loss of many of them leaves an emptiness I can't truly explain in any sort of coherent way. I'm really just babbling away I guess. After all these are MY confessions (I write that a lot don't I?). I have made a new friend here in C'ville lately though, so that's helping to stave off the dreariness of not being able to see my Misfits as much as I'd like (once a month is better than not at all that's for DAMN sure). Nothing new to report really. I've got some music going up on the page this weekend. Just some more Duffy, Ashley Monroe, and some Koko Taylor. Nothing over the top fancy, but its feel good music all the same. Till next time...

As most of you have had to bear witness to I am a HUGE fan of the band Over the Rhine (OtR.) I got to see them tonight only two miles from my house at a wonderful little venue known as Gravity Lounge what follows is my quick review and setlist for the show.. just because I feel like sharing. It definitely made up for the rainy, but still ok/good Sugarland (are they ever not good ) show on Sunday.

Over the Rhine opened with I Don’t Wanna Waste Your Time (With Music You Don't Need), which I always love that being an opening number, I’m sure it can get boring for them, but for me it just FITS. The rest of the show was also amazing but rather than give you my blow by blow of each song saying how great they each are, I’ll just leave it at that. The solos by Jake and Mickey on “I'm On A Roll” have only gotten progressively better, Mickey got quite the crowd reaction for his house pounding drumbeats, being an intimate club I was about 6 feet away from him and could see him in profile and so got a wonderful view of his playing (truly a master of the drum kit). I got a small sense of pride seeing that Karin had set the flowers I’d sent out on her little table, I’ve sent to very very few artists before and this was the first time I saw any sort of appreciation for it, and that felt really good makes me happy to do it again (maybe a bigger bouquet?). The band was in a wonderfully giddy mood and the crowd really got into the show, which I always love seeing. OtR tends to draw a diverse audience and in this college town that was no exception with Grey haired men sitting next to high school kids in perfect calm and enjoying the show for all it was worth. Karin really thwacked into her cookie sheet leaving some major imprints into it grinning the entire time. I loved some of the “oldies” pulled out such as Daydreamer and Cruel and Pretty. All in all a magical night that will get me through till this OtR junkie gets to another show.

Ok, so let's face it... I'm at that age where I can freely admit I watched Felicity back in the day... I'm also willing to say I watched the Power Rangers (the first cast she was the Pink one) after school waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when (so what if I was "too old" for it don't judge me!!!). I'm also free to admit I loved Amy Jo's singing voice in the Sweetwater: A True Rock Story movie on VH1 back in the day. I've even had the urge to watch it lately and went online to find a DVD of it (after not seeing it on Netflix) and I can only find VHS (and I bought it so don't judge me at least I'll rip it digitally and make a DVD hee hee) what I was impressed to find was an MP3 of the song "Motherless Child"!!!! Ever have one of those moments in life where you so happy and excited you almost feel like your about to hyperventilate? That's me right now. I just downloaded a SECOND live Over the Rhine show. They always do two back to back dates at Canal Street Tavern and they were both taped by fans. Over the Rhine is a taper friendly band, for which I am ever grateful. I've tried not to post about them on this blog so far... mostly due to my addiction to them.. I mean I have well over 8GB of music on my MAC that is JUST Over the Rhine! I was feeling melancholy today... a good day for the blues. Last night I came across one of the best blues albums I've heard in recent years, now I'm not talking soul, I'm not talking R&B, and I'm not even referring to jazz, what I'm talking about is the melancholy without being depressing BLUES... and the diva of them herself (even in her late 60s 70s) who's giving me this great music is none other than Bettye LaVette with her newest album (2007) "The Scene of the Crime".. I'd been meaning to listen to this one for a while now.. and just never seemed to get around to it but boy o boy was I blown away!!! Every song shines on this album including covers of Willie Nelson and Elton John (and you can't tell!!) but when it gets to the second to last track on the album "Before the Money Came In (The Battle of Bettye LaVette) she rips her heart open and lets us see her wounds and scars... she belts out in a broken voice all the pain all the struggle she went through in her music career only to finally get a record deal for who she was without anyone trying to change her... and damn near breaking her heart. Listen, mellow, and enjoy.

Isn't amazing how a little thing like ink on a piece of paper can make one feel so full of absolute joy. A poster I've been searching for for the past 5 years or so has finally made it into my house and into a frame today. I love it.. its everything I thought it would be.. I can't wait to get it up on the wall near my others and give it a true home. I feel as if my collection is nearly complete due to the fact that at least one other (that I didnt' even know existed!!) has also joined the ranks of my lovely lovely band posters. *aaaaaahhh* the satisfaction of obtaining that "ungettable get" I would just like to say thank you my friend "H" (you know who you are) for getting this for me.. it means a ton!!!

That's right!! Another track from the demos Duffy recorded with the band Invisible Wires has leaked.. and I love it!!! We know from a few interviews that Duffy recorded a bunch of demos in 2004... enough for a full album actually. They are slowly leaking which I think is great for the fans, this girl has talent and I love hearing how she came about to be the sensations she currently is. This latest song "I Wish I Was A Single Girl Again" is amazing MAJOR KUDOS to the songwriter involved!! I'm in love with the blues riffs in the guitar as well... damn I can't stop listening to this... ENJOY!

Ok... I admit it I'm loving this girls voice. I'm also love that she's releasing singles and albums on Vinyl!!! One more notch in the great artist spot is that she's also putting b-sides on all of her singles here is the one that escaped my clutches the longest its called "Save It For Your Prayers" its a stripped down piano and vocal track and it astounds me they left it off the album (the album IS amazing on its own though)

Mad Marge and the Stonecutters... there's a short story of how I was introduced to this band. I was clicking around seeing the updates on my friends profiles and I noticed my girl Sarah had this really really amazing song on her profile called "Shake" and it really really bitch slapped me and made me listen to it.. and when music does that I know its good. The band has a really unique rock sound with lots of 'slap-bass' and heavy guitars and pulsating drums the vocals are just out of this world, often comapared to Gwen Stefani you can see "Mad Marge's" vocal similarities.. but she's SOOO much better and on key than anything Gwens' ever done (and she does it without mic enhancements!). Their band name comes from a bunch of "Simpsons" episodes and only adds to the quirky awesome nature of this band. Check them out, the album is a delayed release called LIBERATED! and is hands down the best rock album to be released in all of 2007.

I think that due to the fact so many of the people in this world "omg so love Carrie Underwood" that you all deserved to know how she came about her sound. One name, Katrina Elam.

This girl was set to hit the charts big time, big powerhouse vocals, amazing style, beautiful looks and one heck of a debut album. What happened? I'll tell you... Carrie Underwood won American Idol. She was given demos of songs by Katrina for Elam's sophomore album and told to sing like her.. which she does (with a bit of a pop flair to the music). Then Katrina's sophomore effort was put on hold, and is starting to look like a permanent stalemate now that they've given another one of her songs to Carrie for HER 2nd album! So here is Katrina Elam.. both her 1st album and her 2nd (unreleased) and a few choice demos thrown in for good measure... enjoy. Love and if you do.. fight for her chance on Country Radio again!!

I've mentioned she sounds like a young Dolly Parton.. but her voice contains such melancholy at times it nearly drives you to tears!.. here is her debut album that will never be released plus a collection of her most recent demos. Sony let her out of her contract but sadly never released her INCREDIBLE album "Satisfied/Ashley Monroe".. either way I nearly sold my soul and unborn child to obtain it..

Ok... so I've never been a huge "Fan" so to speak of Dolly Parton, I've liked songs, LOVED Steel Magnolias and always found her voice to be wonderful. I adored the CMT Crossroads with Dolly and Melissa Etheridge... but I am smitten with Dolly's latest album "Backwoods Barbie" its simply wonderful. She's really put a lot into this album.. so enjoy! I know I am.. and if you love it.. go BUY IT. She also does some simply great covers of "Tracks Of My Tears" and "Drives Me Crazy" so its worth it just to hear these classics taken on by the Country Diva herself!

Alice Smith~ I bought her debut album back in 2006 and fell in love with it with a 4 octave range this girl can power house her way through any song... and isn't ashamed to switch up genres on an album going from R&B to Blues and Country while jamming it up for a down home Soul ballad she does it all... her live performances are not up to par for me right now.. she used to be amazing but lately she's slurring her words.. still... can't wait for the next release!

First times... they're always supposed to be sweet, daring, wild... memorable.. this one will not be.
